Accessibility

The Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board wants everyone in our community to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities.

Our standard

We work to make this website meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA (opens in a new tab). That is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice has set for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Here is what that means in practice:

  • Pages are designed to work with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are on the page.
  • The site is built to work with screen readers. Images that carry information have text descriptions, and pages are organized with proper headings.
  • Text has enough contrast against its background to be easy to read.
  • Pages still work when text is enlarged to 200% or more, and on phones and tablets.
  • Moving content can be paused, and animation is turned off if your device is set to reduce motion.

Adjusting this site

Select the round accessibility button in the bottom-left corner of any page, or the Accessibility button in the bar at the top of the page (on larger screens), to open the settings panel. There you can:

  • Make the page’s text larger or smaller (the menu at the top stays the same size)
  • Add space between lines and between letters
  • Switch to a font designed for easier reading
  • Underline and highlight every link
  • Turn on high contrast
  • Stop all animation

Your choices are saved on this device and apply to every page until you reset them. The panel only changes how the site looks. Your choices stay in your own browser, and the Board never receives them.

Using your own device’s settings

The accessibility tools built into your computer, phone or browser work with this site too, often better than anything a website can offer. That includes screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack, voice control, and your device’s contrast and text-size settings.

You can also zoom the whole page with your browser. Hold Ctrl (or Command ⌘ on a Mac) and press + to zoom in, − to zoom out, and 0 to reset. On a phone or tablet, pinch to zoom, or increase the text size in your device’s settings.

Known limitations

We are working to make everything on this site accessible. A few things are outside our direct control:

  • Some annual reports are published through outside services (Canva and Adobe). Their accessibility depends on those services.
  • Some older PDF documents, such as past annual reports, don’t yet fully describe their images and charts. If you need one of them, we will provide it in another format (see below).
  • The Resources page links to many websites run by other organizations. We can’t guarantee that those sites are accessible.

If any document on this site doesn’t work for you, we will provide it in another format, such as an accessible Word document, large print, or a phone call to go through it with you.
